Urban Jerusalem

Hey Everybody ! We wanted to give a shout out to all of our prayer partners,friends,family,and supporters of Urban Jerusalem. So much has gone on since July,2006 and we will slowly try to unpack it so all who want to know what’s been up can get a clearer picture. for starters, this vision of a hip hop church or a church that uses the gifts and elements of hip hop to praise and worship God and tell the world about God was given to my husband Stacey(5-6 Years ago) myself and a friend of ours Isaac Choi in similiar ways and different times. Stacey and myself both grew up loving and embracing the art form(s) and the culture and the reasons why it(hip hop) initially evolved. We related to so much of the culture, the music and we still love hip hop till this day. We both grew up in the same denomination and church type environment and couldn’t really reconcile our love for God and our love for hip hop hence one of our slogans to those who think they need to leave hip hop alone if they accept God(Christ) is You can love God and hip hop…We believed that we could worship God if we did it in Spirit and in truth regardless of the style the music was. So we began praying on the vision God had given us and asking Him how He wanted us and would allow us to present Christ to this world we were livin in. Two common denominators that my husband and myself had… I have to sign off for now but the journey from the vision to the reality and the reason behind the Urban J move ment will be continued…Grace and Peace
